Friday Review: 9/27/2013

Here are a couple of the important events of the week along with just some awesome articles I’ve come across :

1) The clear winner – an insect with gears!!

2) A recent article in Energy and Environmental Science discussing energy storage prospects for the two kings of renewable energy: solar and wind.  It appears that it is cost-effective to build grid-scale battery system to store surplus energy from solar cells for later use, but not for wind turbines.  I hope to explore this in more detail in a post soon.

3) And, most importantly, the IPCC has just put out its newest report on climate change, stating it is ‘95% certain’ that our evidence of climate change and temperature rises is human-made!
